Danish clean energy firm helps island to run on 70 percent green power
A Danish clean energy company and its technical partners have financed and installed renewable energy technologies providing 70 percent of the power on the Azores island of Graciosa.
Green energy penetration on the North Atlantic island will mean diesel savings of two million euros per year, says HowardScott, the company behind the project.
The installations consist of a multi-megawatt wind park, a solar park and a battery energy storage system – making Graciosa the most intelligent energy island on the planet.
And a new project on the island, which has a population of 4,780, could see its energy become greener still.
